This gorgeous mid-century fine costume jewellery set is made by Marcel Boucher, and all three pieces are hallmarked with the MB and phrygian cap that was used from approximately 1937-1949. The earrings are numbered as 3114, and the fur clip pin is numbered as 3014, so this set is likely from the early 1950s, and definitely earlier than 1955. The fur clip brooch and earrings have a nice weight to them, and are both exceptionally well made; they are in very nice condition for their age. They are set with a number of sparkling rhinestones and beautiful faux ruby crystals, the square cut ruby crystals a purply red that I found difficult to capture with the camera. There are both gold and silver elements in the pieces, and the metal and crystals have a fetching sparkle to them. This set is meant to be seen, and while it is not for the faint of heart, neither is it gaudy.
Size: The fur clip brooch is approximately 1" in diameter (not including backing pin) and the matching earrings are just over 3/4" in diameter at their widest point.
Condition: Very good for a vintage set, with no scratches or dents eye visible and all crystals accounted for. I did noticed an x scratched on the back of the brooch, near the hallmark, but this was only under magnification. The clasps on the clip on earrings are functional, as is the prong (non piercing) back of the brooch.
This is one of those examples of costume jewelry, where the quality and appearance make you wonder if you are holding the real thing. I love this earring and brooch set! You could not ask for a more glamorous example of midcentury jewellery that will dazzle and charm as effortlessly as you do.
**Shipping Information**
Shipping costs are the cost of mailing an item, along with any necessary packing/packaging materials. If shipping costs seem high, sometimes they are. When estimating for the purposes of listing an item on Etsy, I have to list the most expensive possible shipping destination in a given country. More expensive items are shipped with tracking and insurance, which adds to the cost. If the difference between my shipping estimate and actual costs are greater than $2, I will refund you the difference.
If you are thinking of purchasing an item, contact me with your postal or mailing code, and I will check the precise shipping costs. For less expensive items (under $50), I am willing to ship by cheaper options, but please be aware that this can extend shipping times by 4 to 8 weeks for international shipping to some destinations.
In short, not turning a profit on postage, but need to cover the costs getting lovely jewellery from me to you!
